Why Parrying Matters More Than Dodging
Dinoblade rewards aggressive defense. Your stamina regenerates fastest after a perfect parry, and boss fights feature visible posture meters beneath health bars. Filling that meter staggers the boss, creating the highest-damage windows in the game.
Passive abilities like Survival Instincts widen your parry window below 50% health and increase damage — a deliberate risk-reward design that favors players who engage with the parry system rather than rolling away from every attack.

Perfect Deflect vs Block
Hold right-click (or the block button on controller) to guard. Time the block just before impact for a perfect deflect — you will see a distinct flash and hear a sharper sound. A perfect deflect fills the posture bar significantly and may trigger a counterattack prompt when the bar is full.
Regular blocking still works but drains stamina on heavy hits. Yellow-telegraphed attacks are often unblockable or extremely costly to block. Red-glint attacks can usually be deflected after the day-one patch that made 95% of unblockables parryable.
